This month we are featuring Teresa White, PTA from 21st Century Rehab at the Dallas County Hospital. Teresa has been a member of IPTA since 2003.
“I have been a PTA for 24 years and loved every minute of it. I was inspired to become a PTA when my niece was born with many disabilities and doctors only gave her a 2 year survival rate. She is now 48 yrs old. I witnessed the PT that came to her house give her parents exercises to do, I saw the hope that the PT gave to our family. She is able to walk, sit, stand, communicate, love, hope and has the best attitude for life…all of this because a physical therapist did not give up on her. I am forever grateful for our profession.”
The reason I Love being a PTA:
“I love when my patients get better, when they feel better and have less pain and return to their normal daily activities. I enjoy hearing their stories and getting to know them. I am a firm believer that to be successful in this profession you have to treat the whole person not just the diagnosis. I am blessed to be a part of a company that truly cares for its employees and our profession and actively participates in IPTA and APTA to ensure our profession is on the cutting edge. I respect the IPTA and APTA for being our voice and fighting for our profession."
Thank you to Teresa for sharing her story! This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first physical therapist assistant (PTA) graduates. Click here to find out more from APTA.
