The Iowa Physical Therapy Association (IPTA) is the Iowa Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). To become a member of IPTA, you must first join APTA. Members of IPTA also become members of the Iowa Physical Therapy Foundation.

Upon becoming a member of APTA, you will automatically be assigned to the Iowa Chapter if you submitted an Iowa address on your membership application. Your membership in the Iowa Chapter will be recognized in about 30 days when the monthly membership data update takes place. You will receive a welcome letter, a membership directory and other valuable information about IPTA membership including assignment to one of our four geographic districts. You will begin receiving regular mailings, our monthly E-newsletters and other special communications including notice of district and IPTA meetings, conferences and workshops.

If you live in a bordering state but work or go to school in Iowa, you may instruct APTA to assign Iowa as your state chapter. However, you may have only one state affiliation. Non-Iowa APTA members may also become "corresponding" members of IPTA through a process established by APTA. Additional dues will be charged for corresponding membership.
