Research, Case Studies and Annotated Bibliography Presentation

Below is the description of the components of the abstract that should be created based on whether a research study, case study or annotated bibliography is being submitted for review.   

RESEARCH abstracts must include in order 1) purpose and hypothesis of the study, 2) number and kind of subjects, 3) materials and methods, 4) type(s) of data analysis used, 5) summary data, 6) numerical results of statistical test(s) where appropriate, 7) conclusion, 8) clinical relevance. 

CASE STUDIES abstracts must 1) present the treatment of a patient or a series of patients, 2) provide unique insight into the treatment or natural history of conditions seen by physical therapists, and 3) include accurate descriptions of the patients, treatments, and outcomes.

ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY abstracts should include a short description of 1) the topic or question addressed and the importance of this topic, 2) methods used to address topic, 3) summary of findings, and 4) clinical relevance.
